Edward Kallon, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator has declared that he was absolutely horrified by footage of five Nigerian-based humanitarians being slain by radical Islamists.

The mentioned tragedy took place last month after the victims, while en route to the city of Maiduguri, were captured by the militants Islamic State West Africa Province (a local successor to Boko Haram) and executed last Sunday. After the shocking video of the mass murder was leaked on public web platforms, the ISWAP claimed the responsibility for the deed.

The ISWAP had previously threatened to everyone associated with worldwide humanitarian organizations, and Nigeria is currently swarming by illegal jihadist checkpoints. In his Twitter statement, Edward Kallon once again addressed “all armed parties,” asking them to cease targeting civilians and humanitarian aid workers.
