Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya, a 20-year-old Russian-Australian decorated pair skater, could have taken her own life.
According to 5-tv.ru, the young woman’s body was discovered on the ground near her apartment complex in Moscow, Russia on July 18th. She had allegedly jumped to her death, leaving a suicide note that simply read “Love [you].” Alexandrovskaya, a two-time Australian National Champion, was dealing with serious health issues prior to her death.
Her coach Andrei Khekalo revealed that the athlete suffered an epileptic seizure this January and had to bid farewell to her career, which drove her into depression. According to her mother, Alexandrovskaya was nevertheless looking into working as a coach and entering a university, but still kept berating herself for being a “failure.”
