Five million people that is a very significant number globally. There are very few Countries in the world that have escaped the deadly Corona virus completely.
Unfortunately the USA has an alarming number of deaths in excess of 90,000 people have died and as the Country opens up gradually there is a fear that many more are likely to die as well. Whilst there is an argument for reopening the States and getting back to some normalcy if possible given the economic disaster that is going to follow as a result of the lockdown, it is clear there needs to be vigilance whilst going about one’s day. The virus has and will continue to claim lives.
Different Countries have tackled the Virus differently from Sweden with relatively little in the way of a lockdown to now having one of the highest rates of infections and deaths per capita to the Baltic States, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia where the virus has very few infections and even fewer deaths recorded.
The Countries that have not reported a single case are ; Kiribati,Marshall Islands,Micronesia,Nauru,North Korea,Palau,Samoa,Solomon Islands,Tonga, Turkmenistan,Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Though surprising as the world is so interconnected in this modern age these relatively remote locations seem to have bucked he trend.
However according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, more than five million people have been infected so far, and the global death toll is more than 328,000. Nearly 1.9 million patients have recovered. The virus, which leads to a respiratory illness that can be transmitted from droplets of bodily fluids – such as mucus and saliva, has now been reported in at least 188 countries.
