Conspiracy That a Third of Americans Believe

Whilst the majority of Americans believe that the Coronavirus was created naturally, there is a large group of over 30% that believe it was manufactured in a laboratory.

Much as people would wish away the conspiracy theorists there is no dampening their arguement. There is no clarity regarding how the virus is transmitted from bats to humans. The Pew Research Centre has released a survey of 8,914 adults regarding where the virus comes from and over 30% of them believe it was a deliberately manufactured virus.

About 4 in 10 conservative Republicans who took the survey believed in the conspiracy theory, the largest share of any ideological group. The results also show that this view is more prevalent among younger people, 18-29 year olds.

Whilst the argument continues regarding the origins there is a growing sense of frustration as to how this has been handled by the authorities. In the early months late January and February there was a restriction on travel imposed by the Trump administration, but the question of what was done other than the travel ban is what is causing strife as little was implemented with regards preparing the emergency services, hospitals, personal protective equipment, ventilators, and a host of measures that would normally quickly be attended to given the advice on the scale and ferocity of the virus that was being anticipated to be spread within the population.

That has equally fuelled more conspiracy theories about the virus.
